ACC Sheds Lights on Three Arab VOD Platforms during Berlinale


Promoting Arab Cinema in international festivals and film markets worldwide, Arab Cinema Center (ACC) sheds light on three professional VOD platforms during the 66th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). These platforms feature Arab films to the Arab world and beyond, namely; MoviePigs (USA), Minaa (Jordan) and TV.AE (UAE).

MoviePigs
MoviePigs is the first online cinema platform dedicated to Arab expats in the USA and Canada and soon to be in Europe, streaming high-quality Arabic indie films with English subtitles. MoviePigs will also open doors for Arab Cinema aficionados to connect with creative Arab filmmakers and will soon expand its services to include international indie films in the future.

Minaa
The Creative Documentary Platform (CDP) (Amman, Jordan) and MAD Solutions (Cairo, Egypt) founded Minaa as a Public-Engagement Distribution Scheme. Supported by Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation (Amman) and Key Technological Contributor Striim.in (Finland), in collaboration with Ma3mal 612 Founder and Organizer of the Karama Human Rights Film Festival (Amman), the platform will collect and harbor regional creative documentaries of different lengths and allow their online streaming via Minaa VOD. It will also distribute creative docs through TV stations, festivals, cultural centers, cinemas, universities, airlines...etc. The Minaa VOD will be an interactive bilingual VOD Platform (Arabic and English). It will feature free and paid viewership for individuals and institutions, regional and international. The viewers can watch docs from different devices and will be able to engage with filmmakers directly.

TV. AE
A UAE based dual-screen platform committed to developing and growing regional and global talent and content relevant to the Arab world. The TV.AE provides this support as a unique platform that focuses the attention on the content and enhances the users' viewing and interactive experience.

Arab Cinema Center (ACC)
During the 66th round of the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), Arab Cinema Center (ACC) is present along with its 26 partners, including film organizations and companies from around the world. As part of the new strategy in 2016, Arab Cinema Center is targeting more than 20 international festivals and film markets. The Center opened the year at the 45th International Film Festival Rotterdam and is set to take part in the HKTDC Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) (14-17 March). More details about the center's future presence in international markets will be revealed on a later date.

During the festival, ACC announced its year-round partnership with Variety magazine as its media partner and Festival Scope as a digital partner, as well as Striim.in as the center's technology partner during 2016. The Center also launched a magazine listing the partners, festivals and film markets hosting it this year and also highlights the latest updates in the Arab film market.

Arab Cinema Center (ACC) is operating as an international promotional platform for Arab cinema as it provides Arab filmmakers with a professional window to connect with filmmakers from all over the world through a number of events that it organizes and provides networking opportunities with representatives of companies and institutions specialized in co-production and international distribution, among others.

The Center's activities vary between Film Market main wings, introduction sessions for Arab and foreign filmmakers, welcome parties, meetings with international organizations and festivals, in addition to releasing an ACC guide to be distributed among the Film Market visitors.
