With Full-house Attendance and a Long Standing-Ovation

3000 Nights Picks up the Audience Award at The Annonay International Film Festival in France


Mai Masri's Palestinian feature 3000 Nights won the Audience Award at The Annonay International Film Festival in France, which closed on Monday February the 15th. The film's screening night was attended by more than 400 spectators who gave an overwhelming standing-ovation that lasted for minutes as the actress khitam Edlebi and French Director of Photography Gilles Porte on stage to address the audience.

Currently 3000 Nights is screening at Al-Quds cinema at Yabous Cultural Center in Jerusalem on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for three weeks, until the 27th of February. Previously, the film's screenings at Cinema City in Nablus unprecedentedly witnessed huge turnout that the 'full-house' sign was raised for the first time in the history of Nablus. As a result, 3000 Nights' theatrical release was extended for an extra week.

Set to expand for a wider theatrical release across further Arab countries, 3000 Nights was selected as a festival opener at the 4th Luxor Arab & European Film Festival, where it was part of the official competition. The film was also screened at the US within the Palm Springs International Film Festival in California, and most recently in Sudan Independent Film Festival (SIFF).

Back in October 31st, 2015, Mai Masri's film won the Meeting Point Audience Award at the 60th Valladolid International Film Festival in Spain, where the audience rated the film 4.297 out of 5. According to an official release, the festival stated that the film "received the warmest acclaim from the audience". In less than a week following this, 3000 Nights received the Jury Award at the 8th Women's International Film and Television Showcase (The WIFTS), USA.
Since the film's world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival, 3000 Nights has been well received in film events. The film competed at Busan International Film Festival in South Korea and had a full-house screening at BFI London Film Festival.

A Palestinian co-production between France, Jordan, UAE, Qatar and Lebanon, MAD Solutions is in charge of the distribution of the film in the Arab world.

Starring Maisa Abdelhadi and Nadera Omran, the film tells the story of a Palestinian school teacher who gives birth to her son in an Israeli prison where she fights to protect him, survive and maintain hope.
